Title: fuel guage sending unit on 93 Dodge minivan
Post by: 58 Yeoman on August 02, 2006, 11:11:54 PM
The gas guage on the van works well when I fill it up.  When it gets to around 1/2 or below, it gets real erratic, and the low level light comes on.  Sometimes it goes back up, sometimes not.  I'm guessing the unit in the tank; the electric pump is also noisy.  Are they one unit, or separate, anyone know?  TIA.

i put one in last week and it was all one unit.

you don't have to drop the tank all the way out but you do need to let it hang down far enough to get the pump out.
don't take the filler neck hose off, it'll help when you drop it down.
a 2 post rack would be nice along with a fairly empty tank...

Thanks Tom.  I don't have a hoist, but some tall jackstands.  My floor jack will raise it up pretty high.
