Title: Convertible top motors
Post by: junkyardjeff on July 25, 2006, 09:29:28 PM
Since I put a late model drivetrain in my 55 ford convertible I changed it over to 12 volts,I did not want to ruin the original top motor as I want to sell it so I got one from a 90s chrysler lebaron to adapt.   The original used brake fluid and the latemodels use ATF,can the two fluids mix or should I drain the cylinders and lines or just put brake fluid in the 90s motor.  Jeff

I'd use ATF instead of brake fluid.............
Just my 2 cents worth :D

Drain the cylinders and lines, and refill with ATF. I've done it on several cars with no problems.
