Title: some days aren't diamonds
Post by: nzsimon on February 22, 2006, 03:04:24 AM
I knew that I was tired but I went ahead and did some work on the 32

I bought a new 2 channel igniter as the ones that came with the totota v8 were two big and the wireing was confusing me so I got a 2 channel one from the company that made my engine computer here in NZ

So i worked out where I wanted it on the firewall marked all the holes but before i did that I put a spirit level on it to make sure it was level as I didn't want to trust my eyes as I was tired

So I drill all the holes now I hate nuts so I made a small plate to go on the other side out of steel drilled and tapped it for all four bolts and glued it to the fibreglass with some 2 pot glue when it was all set I bolted the igniter to the firewall

I stood back to admire my handiwork thats when I noticed I still had the car jacked up on one side from where I ran the battery cables the night before

Jeez I hate doing things twice that steel plate was a mother to get off

My first reaction to something like that is to yell an obscenity and throw something. Anybody else out there a "yeller and tosser?" I should be ashamed of myself. Once my wife came out  into the garage and said, "I thought building a street rod was supposed to fun." LOL!

What can be said..................there isn't anybody on this forum who isn't a member of that club. At least you caught it early on and an easy reversal was accomplished.......Charter member, Frank

What? put the steering wheel on the other side? You could tell everyone that it was originally built as a race car for a high banked oval. Seeing some of your other brackets even the wrong one should be framed as a piece of art. GPster

Been there.....Done that! I am also guilty of being a "yeller and tosser" though as I grow older,I yell/toss less and hurt more when I do!

DITTO DITTO DITTO...but now, when I throw something, I aim for the worthless stuff to hit.  Also, I turn up the radio in the garage, so the neighbors don't have me tossed from the neighborhood.

I still throw stuff.

I pull more muscles when I do it now though.

My ex-girlfriend always thought I was absolutely nuts for swearing at inanimate objects, and calling them names. She used to say, "do you really think that _________________(insert item) KNOWS or CARES that you are mad at it?

I think that might be the reason she is my EX-girlfriend.

No, actually my ex-wife was an inanimate object. I could have used my ex-girlfriend when I was 18, if you get my drift.

But that is pretty funny. Had to read it twice to get it.

Yeah...stuff up is my maiden name  ...BTW, why use plates when you could use Rivnuts ( Nutserts ). A lot quicker and neater....bonus, they are easier to cover up if you stuff up

Hmmm...the meaning of tosser over here is a little different....If you want us Aussies to call you a tosser....so be it

I need to correct my original terminology. We are not, I repeat, not "tossers" but rather "throwers." ROTFLMAO!!! Thanks for the heads up--no pun intended! This is the best laugh I've had in weeks.

For those of you who want to know the definition, do a Google search  for "tosser" and "slang" and you will get a good laugh, too.

Lynn....Thanks for clearing that up   I didn't do a search but after your comment  "Thanks for the heads up--no pun intended!".....I don't think it's necessary!

yes yes yes!. I yell and throw things, but I wouldn't describe myself as a "tosser"! That has a whole other meaning down here....
