Got my Dad all set up with Hospice yesterday and the nurse came over today. I stopped by after work and talked to dads girl friend and she told me dad doesnt have long :( . She is a trooper and promised dad years ago that as long as she was able he wouldnt be in a home. She is caring for him while the rest of us do what we have to do like work and pay bills. In the last week he has gone down hill pretty fast. Were hoping he doesnt suffer too long and its at the point he is on morphine to ease the pain. Ive had to cancel the trip to puerto rico to see the other kids and the grand daughter but looks like we will go in march instead. If I dont show up for a while you will know why...
Dave
We're praying for you. Hopefully there is minimum suffering.
Having gone thru this with my mom not long ago I know some of what your feeling. Stay strong for him and try to remember all the good years. Trust that he will find peace.
We wish you and the family the best
Sad news....been there....I'll say a prayer for you and your family.

Charlie
Tough times. Best wishes to your family.
My sympathy is with you and your family. Hospice is good and he is home and comfortable. That's all you can do. Remember the good times.
George
My thoughts and prayers are with you. He's in Hospice and surrounded by loved ones. Under the circumstances that's all a person could ask. Be there for each other, use the people that are there for support.
Yes, it is unfortunate. Will say a prayer for you & your family :(
I went through that with my Dad in May.
I learned that if I couldn't keep him, the kindest thing for him was that his pain would end quickly.
Please know you are in my thoughts.
Sorry too hear he took such a quick turn, but as has been said he's in good hands with Hospice they're really a great organization. Were you aware that they're there too support you also?

Sorry to hear such saddening news, Dave. I hope he is able to slip away peacefully. It's hard to let go--I know--I've been there, too.
HAng in there Dave, The girlfriend sounds like a true friend in every sense of the word.
Life sucks sometimes
Dave, hang in there guy, it's part of our journey. Sorry for this difficult time. Hope it is better soon. Joe
:( Well we lost Dad about 6 PM last nite.. He didnt suffer long.
Dave
At least you had time to say goodbye and other special stuff that youve shared.
When my dad passed away with a massive heart attack just over a year ago it was so sudden and quick he was long gone before he even hit the floor.
Remember all the good times, and have a laugh at some of them. Its the best way Ive learnt deal with it.
It brings a tear and a smile when I remember things like him trying for 4 hours trying to start his beloved 1954 FJ holden, only to find the carby gasket he made didnt have a hole in the middle so air and fuel couldnt get in. many spanners and choice words were flying that day.
Sorry for your loss. and may he RIP.
My family lost my Grandmother (Dad's mom) the same way through hospice. It's a tough thing to go through, but, I take comfort in knowing we were there in her final moments, I got to say "I love you and will always remember you". My prayers are with you Dave.
I offer my sincere condolences to Dave, Don, and the rest of their families!

I'd also like to add my condolences to Dave, Don, their family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. God Bless.
I'm so sorry Dave, I did'nt know about your dad till now. I know how what your going thru, you see my wife Sue has ALS and she's on her 5th year of the disease, the dr's say five years is maxium life span once diagnosed, she's only 51. I myself question why! She's the most kindest lady on earth and always helping other people first before herself and why does HP want to take her away?
Guess I better stop now, Dave your in our prayers.
