Title: Founder of Hughes Performance
Post by: Crosley.In.AZ on December 20, 2005, 07:11:00 PM
Bill Hughes Sr who started Hughes Machine company 3+ decades ago has passed away at age 80.

He started the company with a few machines and rebuilt OE torque converters for local tranny shops

Years later the Hughes Machine company would become Hughes Performance.

Bill helped me with a stall speed converter in the mid 70's... I had a converter from John Kilgore that blew up internally.  I had Bill check the next converter from John before I used it... I never used it.

I bought a converter from Bill for the car.  Who knew I'd work for the Hughes company 30 years later.

If you google Kilgore trans you will see John is still in the middle of tranny stuff.
