As the subject implies. Things have been somewhat dead around here. What has everyone been doing that is keeping them away from here.
I will start with my story. I was able to gain active employment about a month ago. I am now working for a small company that sells new and used motor homes as well as used semi tractors and trailers. I have also been spending most of my online time playing a game called Space: Glory through Conquest. I have not been doing much in the way of car related activities. On the weekends I have been helping enjenjo install a 350 TPI motor in his old Fleetline. I have also spent many of my evenings with my lovely bride of almost 1 year. I am still sure we made the right choice but I can't say she thinks so. You will have to ask her.
Lets hear your story.
Fat Cat
My computor time I've been spending here. When there's nothing new here I go to Ol Skool classified and HAMB classisfieds to see if anybody needs something I got, then I go to solitare. I can't devote time to anything and when I start anything my lasting amounts to about an hour. I've been doing enough things to keep from being depressed about not getting anything accomplished but not enough to see that I've got anything done. Now someone add a happy story so I've got something good to read. GPster
I'm in Las Vegas again  In the last month or so, I reroofed one of my buildings, tried without success to patch the roof on another, and worked out in the shop. I also sold some stuff on the HAMB, so I have been packing and shipping that too. I decided I had too much stuff, and someone else needed to care for it a while. I still want to get rid of some project cars, I need to thin the herd a bit.
I haven't been here much for a while and some people have PM'd me to ask if anything was wrong. Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. She had surgery and went through radiation treatments for 2 months. The prognosis is good. They think they got it in time. I've also got some health problems, probably related to exposure to isocyanates in paint. I've not posted anything about any of this because we don't want to make a big deal out of anything. We are just living life. There have been some changes tho. I've sold a couple of project cars that I would probably have never done and am getting rid of a bunch of packrat junk. This seems like a good time for a shameless plug for my Ebay auctions (http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjunkmailthis).
With some of the project cars gone I've got room to do some simpler things. I'm working on the motorized bicycle a little and building a couple of camping trailers. I'm gonna do a post with a couple pics of the bike soon. When I get moving on one of the trailers again I'll do a post on that too.
This fall is busy with home and cabin work weekends and a lot less computer time. With winter coming I hope to hang out here more. I consider a lot of you people friends and I feel bad that I haven't spent much time here for a while.
I've been going through the old routine...work, eat, sleep; work, eat, sleep....you get the idea.
Last Sunday, since it was close to Veteran's Day, a bunch of us tried to have a cruise to two VA homes, but the rainy weather made us postpone it until this Sunday where we will try it again. Last year was the first year, they did this and it was really appreciated by the VETS, so they are trying to get more cars out this year. I was not able to make it to last year's event because I could not be in two places at one time...still can't do that, but I don't have anything in the way for this Sunday afternoon.
After Thanksgiving Day, I will be heading down to the Rod Run Reuion in Pensacola, FL. Not a reuion for me since it will be my first trip to this one.
Got in the 2005 NSRA Nats video this week and it's another good one with two hours of fun times at the Nats!
I was going to be in Jasper, TX this weekend at a car show, but decided on Pensacola instead.
Short week next week at work, so maybe I can do more of that eat & sleep thing with less work, HA!

Just got back from a week in Hawaii. Since I finished the teardrop trailer I've been able to get back to work on the Packrod. Reshaping the cowl area to eliminate the vent, and changing the hood line to follow the windshield area where the vent used to be. Looks a lot cleaner than just filling the cowl vent. Shortened the axle housing for the lakester, got the axles back to fit the shorter housing. just about done with the front and rear axles.
I haven't been doing much, mostly stuff for other people. I just tore down the front suspension on my 63 Comet to switch it to disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Not much to do with the 37 this winter after a trouble free summer of cruising. Only thing wrong was I didn't do enough of it. Also making plans to rebuild the 427 in the Cobra. Making plans but don't know exactly where the cash will come from to do it. It's been 16 years now so could use some freshening.

That emergency brake lever seems like it would be too hard to build a floor around. That is one thing I miss about our latest forum with that kind of thing not enabled, but I realize some of the problems. There seems to be a differant class of people on the two other sites I lurk at. There seems to be a lot of talk but not as much selling and my selling is mostly concentrated on helping someone out so I rely on a good friend to act as my go between.GPster
I'm still in Vegas too, got my Dodge back from Carl (kroozn) a few days ago. Spent the previous few weeks with SEMA and maintenance around the house (must be something in the air here). Now that the Dodge is back in the garage it's go through the suspension time and work on detailing small parts for reassembly next trip.
I have been working on the 54 Chevy project the last few weeks. I want to get it to run and drive so that it will be easier to move in and out of the shop when I have time to work on it. I am sending the inner front-end sheet metal to the blaster this week. Brakes, steering, fuel system, core support, shroud and some other things are done. The next big step will be the hook up for the computer for the throttle body.
I am also building a Mach I Mustang for a customer. It is not much fun but I need to make some money for my other projects.
Sumner was here yesterday and at Hooleys Friday. Hooley and Sumner were working on a new sensor mounting for the air/fuel mixture sender. I watched them work. Sumner got us a NASCAR roof flap assembly and I have been looking at it this morning. I will need to modify it a lot to make it work on the Studebaker but it should make the car safer if it spins. We also talked about modifying the roll cage in the area around Hooley's helmet. We want to limit his head movement, if something should go wrong.
I got a billboard movie poster from New Zealand yesterday for the movie "The Worlds Fastest Indian". I am looking forward to seeing the movie when it opens here.
Just enjoying the weather ....we've had a few inches of snow and a few nasty days already but overall,it's been an awesome late Fall! It is sunny and 46 out this afternoon which allowed me to drive the 36 on it's maiden voyage! There is lots of sand/salt all over the roads already but I couldn't resist :D ....only went a few miles but as you all know....there's nothing like taking a car you've just finished for it's first drive!Everything seemed to function just as it should....a couple of noises to chase down but overall I'm elated at how it goes down the road.
We built 3 custom homes and 1 cabin this year.....that's a bit more work than we usually tackle and I'm ready for a few weeks off unless something not on the radar pops up.With the increased cost of building materials over the summer and the ripp-off at the gasoline pumps.....I'm fairly certain that the increased amount of work probably resulted in a smaller net profit.I had bid these projects before the hurricanes or the oil companies decided to rape us and chose not to renegotiate the contracts which resulted in me making additional friends but not much money
Like most everyone else,I've got to finish preparing for the upcoming Winter.....Better not waste the rest of this gorgeous day!Does anyone else get extremely depressed at the thought of it being totally dark before 5 O'Clock?? I did take some photos of the 36 and will post them if anyone's interested.....See Ya!!
Been in the woods missing deer  Till today I missed 3 but I took the dumb long shots. Finially got my S@#$T together ..
This is how my sunday went ...
Shot the doe about 7:10 am and didnt know if I hit her or not. Was waiting untill 8 am to go look when the spike walked out 60 yards away. Dropped him in his tracks. Waited for my buddy cause I forgot my knife.(what a hunter eh) So I decided to go look for the doe and when I found the blood trail I walked back to the truck I had parked next to the buck and waited. We tracked the doe for about 20 minutes and found her then drug her 300 yards thru the swamp. Man im tired im going to sit out tonite and tomorrow and tomorrow nite. We cut my sons 2 up yesterday ! Thats why I forgot my knife. Im putting the shotgun away and im going with my new muzzleloader now we got meat so im going for sport. If I get another ill prolly give it away.
So far where we hunt we have a 6 point a 10 point my spike and my doe...
Ya im stoked    Finally got horns after 4 years of renewing
my love for hunting and getting a place to do it. The 32 is in the garage covered up and im having a ball although ive been up at 4:30 am since tuesday and in the stand by 6 am..... Got my grand daughter comming turkey day and I may just stay home and spoil her. Sue is in Ft Wayne now for the her birthday but they know I hunt so. I do keep asking her mother why deer season.

ps: congrats on the job Frank................
Getting ready to start my 4th week of training with a new company. That's left me living out of a motel with no wi-fi during the week so I've stolen a few minutes here and there to peak at the internet but during the weekend I'm mostly ignoring the computer in preference for limited family time. Hopefully I'll be back at home full time after Thanksgiving.
I didn't say much about it, but the last job went spinning out of control in a hurry. I found myself working for a complete a-hole whose philosophy of management is "you get the best work out of people if you continually hold a gun to their heads" (his words, not mine). My people were obviously totally beaten down and unwilling to stick their necks out, and turnover was constant. This nightmare quickly absorbed my entire life and even affected my marriage. Now I've taken a step down in order to stay in the same geographic area, but the reduction in pay wasn't too bad and I really like the company. Opportunity could be down the road as well.
The lesson I learned: If you find you've made a bad career decision cut and run early. It isn't worth the trouble.
Since I am out of the streetrod business for awhile.........I been playin' with my new toy, making it MINE and making a bigger, faster, better engine and transmission for it
I am building a 470 low deck stroker,full roller engine,and the trans will be a reverse pattern,low band apply,with a trans brake,also fully rollerized.
I plan on getting in the nines at a buck-fifty next year........
Street tires,thru the mufflers
ALL THROTTLE-NO BOTTLE
I have also carpeted the enclosed trailer, added polished diamond plate runners, new work bench and tool boxes, plus a bunch of other stuff to make our trips to the track,a bit easier.
Other than than,I ain't been up to TO much

Don't think any of you should remember me but I have been hanging around for a couple years. Maybe a re-intro? Moved twice in the last two years, now near Daytona. Be 60 in a couple, didn't retire, just stopped working. Have a 36 Chevy w/250. Just added a 4:10 and a 700r4 in the last couple weeks. Skip (the other Skip)
Just got home today (Sunday) from a week in deer camp in the beautiful Upper Penninsula of Michigan. We drove the 550 miles last Satuday and it was 54 degrees when we got to camp, no snow. :( The season didn't open till Tuesday so we put up a new power pole and switched the wires from the old pole. We got a light snow on Sunday and a lot of wind. I shot a forkhorn on opening day, a friends son got a nice eight point too. My friend hit a nice wall hanger late in the afternoon and radioed me for help. We tracked it till dark and planned to pick up the track the next morning; it started to snow that evening and didn't stop for another day. There was a foot of snow by the morning so we never did find the wounded deer  We ended up with about 16 inches of snow! O ther than that i have been working on my daughters house. Now that winter is here I can get back to the cars in the shop, and maybe spend more time here also.
I am an Advisor for a Model railroad Explorer Post part of the Boy Scouts and we have a model train set up at the Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for tots, train display till the end of the year. Then back to the garage to install a ing. switch to lock my electric drs. and a emergancy enterence cable to the rear dr. Plus shovel snow, its coming!
Hey Skip....I remember....You were on the old SRS message board as I recall?? Stick around!
George--glad to here your wife is doing well.
Showed my streetrod a couple of time recently and supposedly it is sold--so if it goes I will be on the hunt for something else. Weather has allowed me to put more gravel down in driveway--one more load to go. Tuesday wife is having knee surgery(she fell at the local mall a few months ago) so I will be waiting on her for awhile. Needed to burn some vacation anyway. Then I guess I will go to work on the 55.
UPDATE: We had a nice time today at the Veteran's Cruise in Jackson, MS. Still ran into a few sprinkles on the cars, but not as much as it would have been last Sunday. Since we had to postpone it a week, we had a smaller crowd. Here's a link to the pictures I took:
http://www.ms-sra.org/msra/vacruise05.htm
I should recieve some more pictures from someone else that was taking pictures today also. I will post them after I get them.

I have been working on the Tear Drop Trailer the 48 F1 and a 51 GMC. Saturday I put a 700r4 in the 48 and a 350/350 combo in the GMC. It is in the mock up stage. Finished the 700r4 install yesterday. Long ways to go on the GMC. Also doing some repair and brake jobs here and there for mad money. Got the whole inside of the house painted and doing some needed changes there. Purple pickup, I hope everything goes well for you. I won't spray anymore till I get a fresh air system and suit. Got onto trouble with those isocyanates and got pretty sick. No more of that. Also need a better fan system.

Same old business at Charlies....still puttering with the track roadster; gets a little closed each day. Mocked up the '32 chassis and decided that I need to build a chassis jig. Finally finished the leaves this weekend and will haul the last trailer load to the dump today. Other than that everything is quiet at our ranch.

Been helping son with his 49 chevy. Primed and painted the stock wheels this wekend also got 2 of them mounted up. Still waiting for parts on front suspension. Looking forward to Turkey day at grandmas. You guys have a good one!
Hi all,
Pretty much the same for me. Mostly work, I like what I do, but he hours can get pretty long at times. Trying to get the Olds done, but sure must be getting old. I spent most of the weekend building two small (2"x2") boxes to mount the 4 bulkhead fittings for the air lines going through the trunk area. Used to be able to get that done in a couple of hours. Worked on my sons car also, and a few things for the wife in the house. Possibly that is why I can't get anything done.
Doug
ps. George, my prayers will be with you and yours.
I've become a roadie for a band.
I had a test run back in June, when I volunteered to drive the equipment truck for the marching band my son is in (Calgary Stampede Showband). We went out to the Chicago area and did a competition tour there.
Since then I was asked to volunteer on the truck for the 2005/06 season. It's fun being around the kids so I said yes. I also do the newsletter for the group and my wife and I run one of their fund raising programs.
On the car front, my dad gave me a gas pump about a month ago. It needed a globe, and I couldn't decide what brand to choose, so I made my own.
The lenses are in production, and bodies are on their way. I'll make about 15 globes bearing my new "brand".
I'm working on labeling for a complete products line for my ficticious "North of 49 Garage"
Mike
In the last month,
I got married
Went on an 8 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera
Moved living quarters from the shop to new bride's house.
Went boating for a weekend
Went on a 4 day business trip to Chicopee, MA (BRRRRRRR!)
Sold new bride's house.
Looked for a another (bigger) house, deal pending.
Drove my 32 roadster all over SoCal 2 weekends
Life is good!
Just got back from a week of deer hunting in northern Michigan. No wall hangers to bag, that's why they call it hunting and not killing!
I've got 6 more days to drag my bottom to work, then sweet retirement. Won't start out very good as I will be having foot surgery on Dec. 2. What a way to start retirement. When I get moving again I have plenty of work, finish the 34 Ford, start finishing the 33 Dodge and just plain have fun.
I've been doing more house stuff then car stuff this last month. Completely redid my main bathroom. It's got a real cute surf shack/woodie theme right down to the crackled distressed walls, bambo window covering and bambo shower curtain rod.
My yard is cleaned up and ready for winter. Big Odls is ready as well. Got his rear wheel bearing fixed, then put some miles on him last Sunday. Yesterday took off all the chrome bits on the dash, tail light bezels and fender extension spears. It's all going to Advance Plating on Friday while were down in KY visiting Earl Scheib for the long holiday weekend.
Will start getting the house ready for the Christmas holidays then after the first of the year hopefully get going on Big Olds full steam. My goal is the first weekend in March to have everything complete.
Glad to read everyone is doing well. I wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
Pictures and words will tell it all..I'm still toiling away with the 37.....just click on the WWW thing and check out the build progress.....then you will see what I've been up to.....Oh yeah...sold the 34 Ford and bought a pretend rod..a PT Cruiser.

You have to actually leave the cabin to shoot one!! 8) Just kidding!!
Put the car away a couple of weeks ago. Just been working "on the garage". Installed a new metal ceiling and blew in about 40 bags of insulation. Then mudded drywall, primer & painting the walls. Almost done, just one wall to go.
Drank a few beers & played a little Texas Holdem' this past weekend with OBT. I do believe he went back south a little lighter in the wallet :P
Mike
Well guys it's just come into hotrod run time of year for us down here, so I have been going all over the place. I have to travel at least for 4-5 hours to get to any of the good stuff, but that comes with the love of driving a rod.
Last weekend we had our first Oz-e-rodders get together, and what a bash that was, if you want to check out what we got up to just ask Carps  Oh, but he claims he wasn't there. http://www.ozrodders.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=4477
I have put over three thousand kilometers on my coupe in the last month trying to get to as many of the good runs as I could and loved nearly every minuite, all exept when the trailer lost a stub axle on the way home
Still lots more to come, so I'll just keep on smilin'
Yeah, kinda busy around our place at the moment! :)

Looks like congratulations are in order! The best to you and the Mrs.
For the past month I have been helping my friend Roger of Roger's Rod and Custom assemble a Jag kit car for a customer. It was purchased 15 years ago and has been sitting in a couple of body shops ever since. Some of the parts are missing, like all of the rubber and the top, but all of the major components are accounted for. The customer provided two assembly manuals. And nothing seemed to make sense at first. Turns out he ordered a kit from one company, received the chassis, and then that company went bankrupt. So he ordered a body from another outfit. Once we had that information we were able to make some adaptons and get moving.
Couple of weeks ago I rode down to Texas with some hot rodding cronies to deliver a 62 Bubble Top to a new owner. 16 hours on the road. Had a lot of fun. So much, in fact, that we are planning a trip after Thanksgiving, to Ohio to look at some 32 and 40 Fords someone told us about.
And I have been buying up old Ford chassis stuff around here for my next build; brakes, axles, wheels, etc. Even came up with a set of scab grade original 32 rails. But no body as yet. I'm thinking 26/27 T coupe or two door sedan. But a 30/31 Model A coupe, like I had in high school, is high on the list. I'm selling the excess parts on the HAMB. Not making much money. But so far I have earned more money than I have put out and I still have my keeper parts. Can you register a rod with a negative value?
And finally, I did go to Washington, DC for the National Veteran's Day Observance at the "Wall". It was very moving. The observance coincided with the 40th anniversary of a major engagement in Viet Nam that I participated in. There was a large turn out from my unit and I hooked up with a number of guys that I had not seen since they rotated out.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
Wow, Sounds like sort of a slow time for the car thing. Glad I got to see what everyones been up to.
As for me.......
Mostly just been thinking about stuff. What decisions i need to start making.
I aquired a 36 dodge cab and have a bunch of parts to start building it but I think I am gonna unload it on my buddy because this winter doesnt look like the best time to build a car.
Dad and I are gonna try to work on the interior on my car and tie up some other loose ends with that. We are also gonna work on my S10 a little bit. I lowered it 4 inches all the way around. I want to get all the dings out and shave the tailgate, maybe even paint it if we can get around to it.
On the other side of life, Im trying to decide what i want to be when i grow up. I am tyring to find the perfect place for me in the world. School, Career, Location, ya know, all that jive. Thinking of getting another job to save up money and get myself some more education after I get my associate's.
Well anyways, I hope I can make it to Auto-Rama to see a few of my internet friends.
Later,
Nick
Been a bit of a roller coaster year for me......
My wife had a pacemaker installed in January, and things began to look up. She feels better than she has in the last few years, and I'll probably be able to get back to traveling a bit.
Lost my younger sister (53 years-old) in April to a long battle with cancer. She was a nurse and never smoked a day in her life, but it was lung cancer that did her in.
My knees kept on deteriorating, and it has affected the number of hours I am able to work for my current employer - Home Depot - and they are not too happy about it.
My job is Field College Trainer - training people in sales technique, specialty departments, and product knowledge.
Although there is a fairly high turnover in the retail field, there really isn't a need for my position - the third trainer in Maine covering ten stores.
We've had a few bumps regarding the hours I have worked, but when not training, FCTs are expected to don an orange apron and spend their time out on the floor......the CONCRETE floor.....working as Sales Associates.
I've told them I applied for - and accepted - a training position.......NOT a floor Sales Associate position.
My doctor has limited me to a total of one hour on the concrete in any 24-hour period, so we are bumping back-and-forth over that, now.
My wife's next-older sister (60 years-old) passed away a couple of weeks ago after three years of ongoing coronary and organ problems.
She had open heart surgery at Lahey Clinic outside Boston, developed an infection in her sternum, and had been living without a sternum for the past three years.
She died much like the Pope......."sauntering" into death as each organ shut down. We are told it was not painful.
Had my knees injected a week ago, and keeping my fingers crossed that they continue to feel fairly good.
I've got one oval-track car to build this winter, but I am actively seeking race car and street rod fabrication work.
I've also spoken with an old editor-friend at one of the oval-track magazines, and he's interested in me doing some tech articles. Since I have worked with him before at another publication, it wasn't a matter of "Can you write?".....but, "What did you want to write about?"
Gotta' get back out on my own - away from the corporate situation.
It is simply not a good fit for me.....
B.P.
I'm still recovering from a knee replacment, Going to rehab,Getting stronger every day.
Russ
Glad to hear the knee is working out OK!
Been up to the usual getting things cleaned up aroung the house. Closing on a house I built on the 1st for a client so that will free up a little time. Helped the kids move into a house in the past few days. Seems stuff always comes up and gets in way of the car stuff. Then it doesn't seem worth the hour to go and work on the car. I'm close to paint. Just need to get the blocking done and the low spots filled in and start the primering process. Just to lazy I guess now that crusing season is over. Oh and spending a lot of time with the Grandkids.
bob
OK.... so far Brootal wins , although Ms Brootal did 98% of the work.
grand kids are the best though. You should have them first

Hmm, lessee now, I been workin for da man. Way too many hours, but it's fun so I'll keep doin it.
Got a few new cars launced in recent weeks, covered a bazillion miles and did some dumbass stuff only to learn that when the Doc says "Don't do this, or this" he says it for a reason. OOOPS! Even when we should know better some things can only be learned th hard way.
I must have found Brootal on the 2% day, cos he was nowhere near Mrs or Baby Brootal but at least he was happy. About fifty beers and a dozen Bourbons worth of happy if ya get my drift. Had to drive him home coz he couldn't walk too straight.
Also dropped by the Brootal houshold to meet juniour the day he came home from the nice place he'd been living. Thank goodness he has his mother's good looks and calm demeanor.
Finally home, I managed to wipe all the emails from my computer Still got me buggered if I know how I did that, but if I owe you a letter or whatever, send me email with address and I'll get my finger out and get it sent. You know who you are and what I mean. Thanx.
Have been doin' some more striping to burn up a bit of leisure time and finished a couple of model cars. I just started another one.........

Next up will be the '40 coupes featured in C9's book, 'Pinky', I've collected the parts to build both cars.
Carps, That looks to much like Don's coupe to be a coincidence.

Been retired for 2 years and enjoying every minute of it. That is until the 'ol nuclear power plant called me back in early September to help out during a refueling outage for a few months. Nine plus hours a day, 7 days a week really puts a dent in your free time. Got some good and bad news last night at work. The bad news is Sunday night should be my last day of work, the good news is Sunday night should be my last day of work. I can get back to being retired.
Going to tear into the '32 roadster in about 2 weeks for a long overdue rewire, steering column and shaft change out, and anything else we find to get it ready for next season. Oh wait, we don't have a roadster season here in Florida, its year round except when the big winds are a blowin. When we thought hurricane Gamma was coming this way I got on the internet and checked out a little town in NC that looked like a good spot to relocate to, until I saw it was going to be 30 degrees that night. So much for moving north. Gotta stick with the plan of traveling north and west during the summer and winter here.
The '48 Ford F-1 Panel Truck - soon to be a M-47 Mercury Panel Truck is coming close to being ready for paint at the body shop. The guy is doing a great job but it is costing a bunch. Time and materials - now you know why I went back to work for a few months. When I find that just-right maroon it will come home for mechanics and then uphostery. Then it will be ready for the next project to get finished. Building a '47 Ken-Skill Klone teardrop trailer. Plans are to clone an original Ken-Skill except make it 5 feet wide for senior comfort. Sum and George are on the same Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailer web site where I've been hanging out trying to gleen as much info as I can and meeting a whole bunch of great teardrop folks.
So that's my story and I guess I'll stick to it unless a better one comes along. Planning to drive to the Roadster Show in June but take our time this go round to enjoy the trip as well as the time in LA.

I want to know where you found a scale wheel barrow for the firewall.
Toys R Us! It was in a set of garden equipment for some little mousey looking characters.

Already go that too, it'll be sitting on the front seat.
And..... it'll even have some genuine Bonneville salt on the floor!

Here's how my project is progressing

Lookin' good Mike, how about the rest of the pump?
Here's a model I finished recently. Channelled '34 coupe, built from the stocker AMT '34 kit just the way we do the big ones. That is, using the best bits from the original and a bunch of assorted stuff from the junk/leftovers box.

Bobbed rear fenders cut from stockers and the engine is Revell parts pack Caddy. The wheels, came from the parts box, tyres, equally obscure. Front crossmember was reworked to get it lower, axle is drilled and wishbones split with brakeets added to chassis and ends located by brass pins. AMT Deuce grille, headlights from Revell/Monogram Deuce coupe, stands made from wire as are tailamp brackets, aluminium tube exhausts and various fabricateed brackets etc. Steering wheel is from '50 Ford, 'Mexican blannket on seat from Mrs Carps scrap fabric box.
The interior tub and seat were sectioned whilst the firewall was made from flat plastic and covered with bare metal, chrome foil. Radiator hoses are real rubber.
If you look really close, you'll notice that the photoetched license frame on the back is bears the name of Toyota dealer. Couldn't resist that one.
It's my Pal 'Nobby's' 60th birthday this weekend so I spent a few nights doing this for his gift. A bottle of quality bourbon packed inside should make him a happy camper. Probably throw the box away with the wrapping.

nice work on the box and the contents
I got my deer early season, with my homemade recurve bow and wood arrows. Classic spot and stalk stuff; saw her through the binocs 1 1/2 miles away. A three hour stalk to 15 yards to where she was bedded and that was that. But don't ask me about the 4 or 5 other deer that I blew stalks on for the previous week.
I found a neat under dash original A/C unit for the 56 ford, and plan to have tha installes by next summer. The 32 chev is still 'almost' finished, just like last yrear and the year before that.
The project I'm enthused about and working on now is the 56 Century Rrsorter. The engine is out and the boat is upside down to replace the entire bottom planking and battens. Flipping the boat upside down without damaging anything was a real knuckle biting exrecise. Whew! Actually the wood looks great. No rot anywhere but the mahogany is dry and brittle from age. I'll be using all new wood saturated in epoxy and bedded in 3m 5200 polysulphide caulking.
Around the home front, it's busy here because the daughter and son in law decided to build a new house and sold the one they were living in....so now they are living with mom and pop. Their original plan was to be in the new house by Christmas, but being naive forgot that you have to get a building permit...now they just found out that some wetland was found on the property where they want to build....Ouch
Cheers,
Dave

Dave.... is that under dash unit similar to the one for a 59 Ford?? I picked one of those up a couple of years ago to put in my 56. BTW it's cheaper living at your house than the kids own house
John :D

The underdash unit I have came froma 65 Mustang. It fits real nice under the 56 dash . The engine in the 56 is a 5.0 H.O with the original serpentine belt and A/C compressor. A local A/C outfit said if I installed the underdash unit they could easily do the rest if the installation.

Since I attained a management position with my company, I'm pretty well worn out by the time I get home. I don't spend much time on the internet anymore. Between dealing with other contractors on the jobsites, and trying to keep my guys working efficiently all day, I have decided that management isn't quite as easy as I had thought...

Nice to hear some acknowledgement that it aint so easy on the other side of the fence.
I've never had a nervous twitch or shakey hand on pay day. Welcome to the real world.

If you had told me 12 months ago that I would be retired now I would have laughed at you.
But here I am, shifted house, sitting sipping on a Bookers, driving my 32 more often than its been driven before(you have to know that I have had the car for some 39 years)
Now I 'm also babysitting for my lovely daughter Joanne, she has just asked me to look after her 51 Studebaker 2 door for a while.
I have now also got a 26' aliyumyum cruiser on the Lakes moored some 50 yards from my front door.
Some great mates close by.
Why the hell I didn't do this years ago I don't know.
