Read the story in this ...sad day indeed

Very sad.
Not only sad, but that's the craziest legal position I've ever heard. If site administrators were liable for anything anyone ever said the internet would NEVER have developed into anything substantial.
That is almost impossible to comprehend....so much for freedom of speech! The lawyers in this country would have a field day with that!
Im sorry but that jumped up PRICK from ASRF has done-in a forum that has helped many first time builders. As well as providing support, info and a meeting place for like-minded people, Greg has done a lot to support hotrodding in general and doesn't deserve the crap he has copped. Looks like ASRF stands for – A Self Righteous Fart.
Australian Street Roding Federation is supposed to help hot roders but instead has taken away a forum that was a great help to a lot of people, a forum that if allowed to grow would have been the best of its kind not only in Australia but any where in the world.
I hope all his chooks tern into EMU's and kick his dunny door down.
As for the ASRF this bloke has done you a big disservice, I would suggest you get rid of him before he can do you (and us) any more harm.
Glad this can't happen here......or can it ?
You guys need to stand together and get that Tudman guy outta ASRF. I see only one post on your site that takes a stand against the moves by this *. Wouldn't your anger be better focused directly to him and the organization that he represents?
Wish our voices would help, but no body here has any power there.
And Carps. you speachless? You've been working to hard........

Doesn't matter what happens to the ASRF guy, the damage is done the forum is gone, a stand up guy (Greg) has had to close the forum so his wife and family don't suffer any more distress, Greg has put his family first (as it should be).
If the ASRF has any more like Mr Tudman, best not to have any thing to do with them.
I will send a letter expressing my disappointment at the result of Mr Tudman's actions and will suggest they get rid of him in the best interests of hotrodding in Australia .
Hey guys and gals, another refugee from HRI. This would have to be one of the biggest stuff ups in Australian Hot Rodding history. The internet gives hot rodders the best way of communication, and they just shut the biggest Aussie hot rodding forum down!
Should I do an intro? I dont feel right posting without giving you guys a brief intro :?
Sean
Gooday. Another Aussie refugee joins the site. Hope we all get on well as we did on our beloved Aussie site. Wasn't any libel in that was there?
I hope we don't flood our American brothers with our influx...
Hi guys...and gals,
Once again you impress me with your hospitality...... first shucked corn (I still dunno if thats right) now a safe haven...thanks
Holy Crap.... (sorry if that offends) I really gotta learn how to change my avatar...any suggestions.. can I email my other one to someone that knows how to do it?
Heres another Aussie refugee, and as for kicking his dunny door down, there could not be anything more aussie than that could there.

And I do belive the quote is....."May the hairs on his A** (thats how they spell it in Themerica)....turn into Emu (pronounced Eemyou (kinda like Startrek "can I beam you up now Capitain" but without the "B" in beam)...not EMOO...thats how Themaricans pronounce it) ...legs and kick the S**T out of him
I'm here too fella's :)
I'm sure gunna miss the other place though.......
8) yep i made it too hope it's just as cosey as HRI
Welcome! You'll like it here....No "Big Brother" looking over your shoulder!
Who Hoo! We just became international. Probably already were but I couldn't think of anything else clever to say.
Yeah another HRI orphan here.
I have introduced myself elsewhere here but thought I would say hi in this thread too.
Craig
I used to think Australia would be a pretty cool place to live, until I heard about all the regulations for your Hot Rods. Now I find out you can't speak your mind either?
No place for me to be, they'd have me locked up within a month. What keeps Carps out of Jail?...
Sounds like the sooner you get rid of Mr. Tudman, the better off you will be.
Oops! I sincerely apologize for the unintentional typographical error in my previous post.
Psyhobilly Boi just posted a list of email addresses on the HAMB

Looks like their LOSS is our GAIN!!! :P
Welcome everyone!!
Glad to have all of you. Gonna take a while to learn who's who with everyone all at once, LOL
Debb
I have a feeling this place is gonna be hopping!!!
I've had a few thoughts about this that I'm going to share fwiw.
It seems to me the ASRF is a buisness, much like the NSRA in the US. As I understand it they have office staff, board of directors, etc.
I don't know what your membership numbers are, but if they started recieving letters from members quitting the organization, and stating the reason, perhaps ther would be some changes made. 5 or 6 letters wouldn't make an impression, but say they recieved 50 or 100 in a short space of time?
I assume they're in the buisness to promote street rodding, and if it was made clear that the membership didn't like having a great resource of info on rodding taken away from them by an organization thats supposed to be promoting the sport it should have an effect.
The thing that would most get thier attention, as a buisness, would be an adverse effect on their bottom line. And if the cause of the loss of money is made clear, any smart buisness person would take steps as neccesary to correct the problem.
I know this won't bring the board back, but a loss of members and lower event participation until this problem is resolved may prevent this from happening again and get the ASRF heading in the right direction, which I would think would be serving the interests of your countries rodders.
The old saying "the customer is always right" is valid if you want your customers to keep coming back.
Just my thoughts on the subject, take them or leave them as you see fit.

I can see we're not gunna have it that easy now we're back here full time, you murricans are clearly pretty tough.
I heard that the word DUNNY was a derivative of DUNEDIN. Dunno really but if Kiwis can't fly I should be safe here!!

I'm probably late on this, but just couldn't be bothered reading the rest of the thread first to see if anybody has answered this.
ASRF is not a privately owned business like NSRA and Gooduys. It is a not for profit association of clubs and individual members built by the sweat and blood of those members and owned and funded by the same members. It is managed by a groupe of members elected by the owners. There is one employee, the National Administrator, who displeased with soemthing some of the mebers said on the HRI, took out a law suit against a member who has busted his guts and spent his own money to foster and encourage active participation in our hobby across the nation.
That's why the action he's initiated sucks. And why the members or 'owners' of the organisation are so flamin mad.
Please don't be offended by my tone in the previous post,
I'm not angry at anyone here, but I just watched the only good Aussie Hot Rod BBS die and I am very angry about that even tho I know I shouldn't take it out on you guys and gals.
Carps is only saying what we all feel, lets hope that we see the HRI again soon.

No offense taken, my only info on ASRF was from the posts about this situation. I wasn't sure but got the impression there was a paid office staff, which i guess is 1 individual. I hope with enough outrage expressed by the owners he goes down the road. It's just too bad he suceeded in destroying a valuable resource for rodding first.
I dont think anyone was fully aware of the implications of the Australian law precedents that were previously set and the subsequent implications before the recent (ie yesterday!) HRI disaster.
In actual fact the whole time the board was operating it was probably open to being sued by anyone that took offence to what was said about themselves or something else.
The fact that everyone on there was a hot rodder to some degree proves how light hearted we are because no one ever brought legal action until a few weeks ago.
It seems to me to be a highly ironic situation that the individual that initiated the first legal action after all those years just happened to be the federations national Administrator, and the issue that the whole thing errupted over was, (well at the time) it seemed to be an issue that threatened the future of our hobby/sport in Australia. Namely the formation of a splinter federation for street machines, cuctoms.
So the whole debacle could not have occured in a more highly emotion charged setting.
It is also a vastly cruel twist of fate that the one person that got completely screwed by the whole thing (so far...wait for it, there may be more to come!) was one person that it has been widely acknowledged that put more into hot roddings future than alot of the rest of us combined.
So yeah, I can understand why many people are upset.
As has been stated many times before in the past few weeks, and indeed in the past few years... Communication would help!!!!
It would have postponed this whole drama, although i think it was coming one way or the other, either in this form about this drama, or in another form about another drama down the track.
It was saddening to go online today, and know that the forum wasnt there. I went to the link for old times sake and read the statement placed there, which gives me some hope.
Although this forum helps greatly, so many members are at different forums now, so it will never be the same.
RIPHRI

When Dolly saw these last few posts she just shook her head and cried. I don't know if that's because she misses the ugly galoot or she's trying to tell us something else. :?
