Hi Please can anyone help a Greybeard Limey Hot Rodder I am fitting a 700R4 Gearbox onto a 283 SBC. & the main gearbox shaft is to short to go into the crankhshaft bush. do I need a longer bush or is it OK not to fit in the bush. Thank You for looking. Regards Brian
I am confused since the 700r4 input shaft does not go into the end of the crank shaft... the front converter snout engages into the crank for alignment
I took a T5 manual box from this motor & the main shaft on this box did enter the end crank bush & I thought the auto gearbox would be the same. Thanks for the info. Cheers Brian
you need to make sure the bush in the end of the crank shaft does not foul against the torque converter.
I'd remove the bushing from the crankshaft
Thanks I`ll take the bush out. cheers Brian
