Title: Too much power?

Here is a photo of a Covair power glide planetary / out put shaft as it arrived in our shop.

Yes, that is a twisted shaft!  The splines should ALL be straight!

How much Nitrous Oxide are they running ?

Maybe the result of a high speed reverse. If the car has a trans brake, that could cause that after repeated launches. I believe all the aftermarket planetary sets have better alloy in the shafts and gears.

And it's twisted so nice and even too ...that one needs to be cut off and mounted.  It's a great picture for those guys that think they just have to drop the big block in and GO!
