Title: 1947-53 Chevy pickup one-piece hood question...
Post by: My52Chebby on October 20, 2017, 12:05:06 PM
Hi all,

Has anyone here bought one of the one-piece hood offerings for 1947-53 Chevy pickups?

I'm wondering about fitment. I've fitted the stock hood but want to get rid of the seam in the middle of the hood.

Any info would be appreciated

I'm not much help. Back in 2003, I welded mine together. I welded the underneath side 1st and then the top. There may be way better ways than what I did.

I have not used one, but Amazon says they are out of stock until the production defects are fixed.  Up to you though.

What I have heard is that almost any original hood is worth fixing due to the alternatives. Somewhere long ago I drew up how I might get rid of the seam, but I have never done one. My version was to remove the flange from one side, hammer the other ove,r then cut and tack until it's a butt weld. Be as glad as the others to help you waltz through those repairs and modification if need be. A hood that is "fitted" is gold. Just my opinion. :)
