Yes, they have to be lock nuts, that is the problem. I don't have room for a hex nut, but there is room for a 12 point.

just curious..  how many do you need???  16 plus some spares..

have you called the special order department at ARP...

as they sell them in 12 point reduced wrench size lock nuts in the 200- 8200 series...   they might have some in the 7/16-20 size already done but not enough to catalog..  page 89.. lower right corner...

http://pdf.arpcatalog.com/ARPCatalog.pdf

i am taking that you want 12 point flange lock nuts...

not a straight sided 12 point lock nut..

in some of my research.. one of the brands was spirolock brand... just  have not found a supplier..

oh.... i will be making the rounds at some of the surplus aircraft stores here in so cal next week...

cal aero supply on paramount blvd.. just north of where venolia pistons was..

victory support equipment  on alemeda near manchester..  they buy big lots from the Goverment .. who knows what they have in the back room..  they mostly do airport equipment..

i also found out that joe factor sales in burbank.. is NOT really gone.. they sold out to a different hardware store.. so the trick stuff that joe factor had still exists...

there is also Apex electronics in sun valley.. thats hours of searching..  the shelves are 12 feet high and loaded with 6 quart boxes ,  each one with different stuff in it..

and then there is norton sales in north hollywood.. they used to buy 20 semi truck loads a week from various space contractors..  as i understand .. they actually have an apollo capsule..

Yes, I want flange nuts. If you run on to about 20 of them, 7/16 by 20, at a reasonable price, pick them up, I'll pay for them and we can arrange shipping.

Are we all just going to leave this alone? Does no one else see the uniqueness of product and distribution location? Tom, Tony, Jim...............maybe it's just me and I can't help myself.
Glad Wayne was able to help you out Frank................. Frank

Glad you were albe to get your nutz together with Wayne's help.

Most of what I need comes from Mark's Nuts, Bolts and Surplus in Glendale AZ.  He sells buy the pound and does bulk orders too.

Copperstate Nut n Bolt is a manufacturer and retailer.  A long time friend runs their Colorado warehouse stocking.  I need to take a road trip thru Colorado , it's over due.

i sent frank a business card...

i did post a name and location.. so its just a google search away..   i did not post his phone number or address number as those are easily found..  and it will keep web bots from generating a LOT more spam to him..

conventional versions are available right from ARP..

the exact product that frank got is probably NOT in wide spread use do to the AIR CRAFT power plant usage.. where some body might try to cheat the system and use NON certified.. non traceable parts..  IE counterfit aircraft parts..

how many of you are going to need more than 3/8-24...

i have not ask him.. but i would bet that if frank knew how much nuts would cost in that size.. he might have selected more fasteners of 3/8..

The fastener size was not my option, it was there already.

Well heck, I think Slocrow was referring to the oft' used "land of fruits and nuts" but even I was too lazy to offer anything. Must be getting old...

i have also went around the block...  parked.. put money in the meter..    walked into a store with the words NUTS over the door.. only to be VERY disappointed that they really were nuts..  as in the edible kind..

there used to be the Greatest surplus store here in los angeles..   called washington hardware...  it was on washington blvd.. just west of western ave..

they had  stuff from WWII... and LOTS of it..

i don't know in all the years i wandered around that store.. if i ever saw into every bin..  i kept finding new isles.. a few locked doors..  i cried when they closed... the scrap guy came and tossed it into trash bins and sold it for weight.

i went around with 5 gallon buckets... bought as much as i thought i could ever use...  i don't know where those 30 gallons of fasteners are . i know that some friends helped me move my storage locker .. and i have not seen them since..
