Title: 302 Ford head bolts
Post by: butch27 on June 14, 2010, 11:20:30 AM
Putting on new heads on "72 -302" Ford. How do I determine which bolts are going into water jackets so I know where to put plyable sealant on those bolts? Thanks

Use a long thin punch or a piece of welding rod .. Stick it in the head bolt holes in the block ...You will quickly see which holes go into the water jacket .........

I don't think any of them go into the water jackets.  I have heads off different 302's and never used any sealer and never had a problem.

But make the test noted above - and let me know if there are any.
