Title: engine swap on 55 pontiac
Post by: 55 pontiac on August 15, 2009, 04:08:52 PM
Hi I am swapping out the origanl engine in my 55 pontiac chieftain for a sbc 350 and was wanting some advice on the degree of angle that it should sit at. I've been told 5 degrees. If any one has some advice I would really appreciate it.

I don't know if there's a specific angle to use. I'd set it up so the carb mounting surface of the intake manifold was level.

Ditto to what Phat46 says.
I will add another thing that  I have done, and that is measure the existing crank damper centre from  reference points to the side, and also verticle from a reference point on the front crossmember or radiator mount.  Do the same at the trans output shaft to floor tunnel.Replicate this with your swap.
This helps keep your driveline angle as per existing..........Frank
