Rodder's Roundtable / U-Pol bed liner
October 30, 2016, 12:09:03 AM
Has anyone here used the U-Pol raptor truck bed liner? TP tools has it on special for $99. They have a clear that is tintable that I would like to try. Or is there another better one?

Rodder's Roundtable / Removing white highway paint
July 17, 2015, 11:28:21 PM
A gentleman stopped at the shop with white line paint sprayed down the side of his black P/U. The stuff is like cement. Is there a way of getting this stuff off short of sanding & repaint?

Rodder's Roundtable / Chevy power steering
September 14, 2013, 12:45:24 AM
I've got a Heidts IFS in a '51 Chevy P/U. It steers much too quick. I've got the reducing valve in the GM Saginaw ham can pump, '85 T'bird rack. Still steers too quick, so I bought the washer kit, & installed 4 washers. Still steers too quick, but the pressure is definitly lower, better road feel. I'm using regular power steering fluid, would changing to ATF make a difference, or am I missing something. I've got the thing for sale, & I'd like to sort this out.

Rodder's Roundtable / Universal angles
November 18, 2012, 11:22:38 PM
What is the maximum recommended angle for an universal on a drive shaft. I'm setting up my '37 Ply coupe with a early Dodge hemi, & want to keep it as high as possible to show it off. Thanks. Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / Air for a '37 Ply.
March 08, 2012, 11:59:33 PM
I am building a '37 Plymouth coupe resto rod. I'm using a '55 Dodge hemi, & want to keep the engine looking old timey, cloth covered wires, generator, no power steering pump, & no compressor. My question is how do the hybrid cars run their compressors? Is it feasible to retro fit their system to have air? I do know Prius is out, they use 230V AC. It has been suggested that I could use a refrigerator compressor with an AC motor run by a power invertor. Is that really an option? Thanks, Larry

Rodder's Roundtable / Adapting electronic A/C to rod
November 10, 2011, 12:32:37 AM
Has anyone here any experience adapting electronic A/C compressor to a rod? I am building a '37 Plymouth coupe with a '55 Dodge hemi, & I don't want a compressor hanging the engine. I want to keep it old timey looking. I looked at Prius, but that compressor runs off a 200VAC motor. Could a DC motor be used? What HP would be required? Is there a more adapter friendly unit out there? Larry

Rodder's Roundtable / Ford power seats
May 04, 2011, 11:51:27 PM
First off, I have a pair of '08 Sable buckets, 8 way memory drivers, 4 way pass. Is there a way to make these work without using 2 relays for each function? I want to use the Ford switches. TIA, Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / Power steering pump pressure
April 11, 2011, 11:54:42 PM
I've read about some of you using GM pumps on Mustang racks & the related pressure issues. I'm building a '57 Ford with a 429 for a fellow, so I'm going the other way. Ford pump on a GM, Cavalier, rack. Will I have issues with the lower Ford pump pressure operating the higher pressure GM rack? Larry

December 04, 2009, 03:45:24 PM
I have factory service manual, but the page that I need is torn out. Can someone e-mail me the wiring diagram for the Chevelle under hood wiring? I think it's section 12 ppgs. 58 & 59. The harness that I have has been cut up, so I need to know what' what to repair it. TIA Larry

Rodder's Roundtable / Try again
March 06, 2009, 12:42:52 AM
Don't know where the pics went. I'll try again. Doesn't seem to want to work for me, must be too large. I'm no computer gut so I can't make them smaller. Oh, well.  Larry

Rodder's Roundtable / What I do
March 06, 2009, 12:35:25 AM
I have been mostly a lurker here and seeing there are fewer posts lately, I thought I'd add my 2 cts. I have gained a lot of knowledge here & enjoy the joking around. I have a body shop, but do no crash work. I mostly work on older vehicles. These are a  couple of my latest projects. The '57 Ranch Wagon the customer is putting together, I just did body work & paint. He has all the trim to make it a Park Lane. The '57 Ranchero is also being assembled by the customer. It will have steam roller tires out back, & a 429" SBF on nitrous.

Rodder's Roundtable / What size exhaust pipe?
February 12, 2008, 11:41:40 PM
I am finishing up a '55 Chevy P/U, 350 cid, 350 thm, 3.23 pozi. What is the best size pipe to use for best sound & scavaging? I have 1-5/8" headers into 3" collectors. Also, what muffler would you recommend for a nice deep mellow exhaust note? Thanks, Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / Effie
June 01, 2007, 11:46:26 PM
A friend asked me today what the term effie stood for. He seemed to think that it was an anacronym for a phrase relating to F-100s. I had never heard this, I thought it was a slang word for the F-100 trucks. Anybody know? Thanks. Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / AD Chevy P/U door latches
April 22, 2007, 12:22:07 AM
I did a '51 P/U & can't get the doors to close properly. You have to slam the heck out of them to get them to latch. Using OEM style latches & strikers, both new. What's the combination to get them to latch? I feel that I have tried every which way. Thanks, Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / Camaro spindles
February 12, 2007, 12:19:15 AM
Is there anyone making dropped spindles for an '80 Camaro? Or is there an interchange that would drop about it 2"? I put an 80 Camaro stub in my '55 chevy p/u & it sits too high for my taste. TIA, Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / Harley Question
May 09, 2005, 10:45:45 PM
A fellow stopped in the shop who is restoring a '84 Soft Tail. His bike had the rear wheel changed, he got an original wheel, but the hub was painted. Had the paint stripped with plastic media. Now he wants the hub to match the front. Front appears to be polished bare metal.  The question is, what kind of metal are the hubs made of? They do not appear to have any kind of coating, but do not rust. They are magnetic however. Can the hub be polished, he has the wheel apart, & the welds also?

What options are there for the vacuum wiper motor other than a $300 kit. Really want to ditch the vacuum unit. TIA, Larry.

Rodder's Roundtable / '57 Ford steering
August 30, 2004, 10:31:20 PM
To have R&P steering I would have to engineer it myself as no one makes a kit that I'm aware of. The next best thing is a "modern" steering box. Question is, what steering box works well in a '57 Fairlane using the original linkage?

Rodder's Roundtable / Tomslik, do you still have
August 23, 2004, 12:27:04 AM

Rodder's Roundtable / '67 Chevy P/U disc brakes
April 20, 2004, 11:20:39 PM
Short of finding an original '70 up disc brake setup, what parts can I use to convert '67 Chevy P/U to front discs. I realize that I'll be going from 6 to 5 lugs, no problem there. Or who in the aftermarket makes a conversion? Thanks for any help. Larry.
