I am looking for a plumbing part and I have xhausted all my resources locally. I need one nut for a drain on an antique claw foot tub. They are unavailable from plumbing shops and supply houses, I have checked...many...they say they were all junked 30-40 years ago. It is for the old 1 3/8 plumbing pipes. Just hoping by reaching out across the country someone might have one or have a source. This has the restoration of my daughters bathroom at a standstill till we can get the drain hooked up. The one in the pictures is brass, I have this one, but we need two. The threaded side is 2 1/8", the hole is 1 5/8" this one is brass, but anything this size would work.

Do you know what the thread size and pitch is? I have a buddy that could machine one.

I don't know right off hand Frank, but I had thought of that too. The machinist from the shop I retired from is a friend, and a serious car guy, he could probably do it too. I was just hoping to avoid the trouble of having it made. I am hoping someone just has one in a pile of old plumbing stuff. I will keep it in mind if all else fails, thanks.

No problem. I would offer to do it, but my lathe does not have a threading capability. Yes, it's that old. :D

Yeah, 1 1/2" is standard nowadays, along with 1 1/4", too small for what I need, 2" is too big. And like above, it is "out of stock" ( obsolete) at supply houses, I went to the oldest plumbing places here and they said they threw it all away 15 years ago, most places did it 30 years ago. There has to be ONE of theses sitting around someplace. The tub was cast in 1896, the same year the house it came out of was built.
I will look for your p.m., thanks.

Yeah, I have spent hours online searching, I thought I had found a place in NYC, of all places, but they are permently closed. I just got the phone number for Black Dog Salvage, from the Salvage Dawgs show.  I found one locally, but would have had to buy the claw foot tub, the fancy porcelain drain stopper, and all the parts for it to get one nut. I figured somewhere, someone has one of these! 😀
