I love the roof line especially on these GM 4 doors.
The 1939 and 1940 GM cars were the best looking body design of all the domestic manufacturers of that time.
Their coupes were stunning as well.

I do admire the work Chip and his crew do to vintage vehicles but PLEASE, enough with the * 2 tones.
Stick with the one color theme please!

Dallas Car Sharks still rubs me a little the wrong way.

The whole show is TRASH!

Most of the other car shows on Discovery, History and Velocity provide decent entertainment.

Better shows today than what we had 20 years ago.

Finishing upgrading the front suspension in my '28 hiboy sedan and getting my Eldorado ETC out of winter storage for a little comfortable sport cruising.
The local Caddilac dealer did a laundry list of $ervice items on it last week.

I just picked up a car with a 327 and a power glide trans. I've noticed that the trans up shifts quite a bit later when the car first starts up in the morning. After it warms up it shifts where you would expect it to. The car wasn't driven much during the last six years and now I'm driving it every day. I'm told the seals may have hardened and it will only get worse. What do you guys think.

Dried out o ring lip seals will greatly delay the low to high upshift on an old Powerglide.
The tipoff is good shifting when it's warmed up.

I am cleaning the shop, I rebuilt the rear suspension on a 1970 AMX this week, springs, shocks, and torque links. It did not want to come apart after 40 years in Ohio.

Anyone deal with these engines on the board?

My daily driver leaks when filled but let it run down 1 quart and it's loosing minimal amounts.

People tell me they're notorious leakers.
Any simple fix for them?

Any simple fix for them? here's a simple answer,  no

sounds like the pan seal (not a gasket) is leaking or even worse...there's a main cap girdle (i forget what caddy and olds call it) leaks also.

aurora 4.0's are the same design, just smaller than the cad 4.6's...


takes $$$ to fix IF you can fix it...

 Maybe you can keep the oil in temporarily..for a while with some sort
of sealant on the OUTSIDE
 Not that funny..when they came out with spray ROOFING TAR I was a changed man.
 I had someone send me someone a long time ago with an emergency type of huge mess can't drive/park the car sudden oil leak.
 400 Trans Am.Rotted pan. Ex.man studs finished,ex.pipes pretty much toast. Hangers.Trans Mt.
 This thing needed enough of work to get a new pan on.Let alone keep any oil in it.
 The guy wanted to TRY some emergency patch NOW thing what could I do NOW.
  I said drain the oil,clean the rot(fortunately it was accessible),hand wire brush and clean the area with lacquer thinner then GOB on some Permatex silicone adhesive sealant and see how long it takes to leak.
May as well hang around for a while./before and after we put a LITTLE oil in it.
  This thing held on a few hrs when he drove it home..overnight..for a few days..he drove it..for a week..driving it..a few months..it was still holding 6 months later.

 I had a cv boot leak on an Escort. Someone said there was some glue? No.
I heard weatherstrip adhesive? Didn't work. Used Permatex and it lasted
pretty much forever.

 Problem with that stuff is that it is close to $14 per tube OUCH and it
is pretty much a one time use.You can seal this stuff up..it still goes hard.
I have actually resorted to punching holes in the tube to get some out

 I sure don't believe in cures in bottles or tubes but some actually do work.

I'm a resident of Winchester, Massachusetts and have been afflicted with car disease since I was old enough to talk and walk.
My dad was an automobile dealer since 1950 and an avid sports car enthusiasts all his life. He passed the disease on to me by about the time he drove home a '53 'Vette he took in trade from a local car buff.
Next week he brought home a red oxide primer '48 Ford convertible, white top, moon discs, mellotones, and very very low.it completely snowballed from there with countless cars I've rolled thru.
That was it, I became a car junkie.
