Rodder's Roundtable / What are you doing today ? 2019
January 07, 2019, 10:11:30 PM
After spending the last 30 days building Christmas gifts for my grandkids, I finally get to work on my AMX.  Getting the tail lite housings prepped for vinyl wrap.  Did a test and it turned out pretty good.

Gotta thank enjenjo for his help on my brakes.  I got everything finished up and the dang fuel line sprung a leak which has prevented the car from going in for body work.  Maybe back on schedule tomorrow.

Thanks for posting enjenjo.  There is a guy building a replica of the Tarpon show car and he needs these tail lights.  Any help would be appreciated.

Cleaned my dual cone air filters.  First time in 10 years and still not a whole lot of dirt in the bucket.  Thinking I may not have a large enough of an opening and I may be starving the engine of air.  I don't know how to do the calculations.  Still looking for the answer.

Replaced the idler on my AMX.  Had to get enjenjo to replace the bushing.  Thanks again Frank!  Took it out for a test ride and it didn't shimmy for a change.  Looks like it may need to be aligned.

Quote from: "wayne petty"want to save some headaches on your blazer.. print and perform this voltage drop test.. if you find something out of spec post results..takes 3 to 5 minutes to perform it properly..

please perform test 5 to multiple fuses in the under hood fuse block.. i have found a bunch of 98 models that were missing a single nut on the fuse box studs that caused about half the fuses to not get full power..

Wait until you have to replace the rearend.  Ours sheared the teeth right off.  It was 800 for a used one.

Quote from: "fast401"Jacked the AMX up to inspect the front suspension and change the oil.  Gotta find out why it broke into a shimmy on the way home from a car show in sept.  I rebuilt the whole front end back in the late 90's but I didn't do the idler or pittman arms.  Something still feels loose and I get a clunking sound sometimes.

I've seen idler arms do that.

I have been working on my son's house for the last 7 days.  We had a crap load of rain in a short period of time and his basement flooded for the 2nd time this year.  The village is looking into the drainage problem and we found a sink hole in his parking area.  Soooooo we replaced the sump pump (plastic) with a new cast iron 1/2 hp model and filled the area where I saw water coming in with expanding foam.  I know, fix it right!!  Just trying to slow it down a little.  I also installed a water alarm so I can be more on top of it the next time.  The funace needed a new board for the second time.  Thank goodness they are not real expensive.  Now back to working on the AMX for a change!!!!!!
