Thanks to all that served.

I just wish the people currently protesting would just realize that us veterans served to preserve their freedom to peacefully express themselves.

I agree, George. It seems the respect for others factor is missing. :(

Being a vet, I appreciate and thank all the other vets.

But today I am thinking about a young man or woman that may be cold, wet, and lonely, and in some foreign place a long ways from home.  They have the control of a powerful weapon that keeps us safe, so that we can sleep peacefully tonight.  I want to thank them.

John

I do not believe it's too early to resurrect this thread. Thank you to all the veterans everywhere. I will think about this all weekend so it seemed appropriate. :)

Our flag is the only flag on display on my street.  The Boy Scouts would place flags for a yearly fee to the local group.  That stopped with the recent changes in the Scouts organization & the split with the Mormons.

Sad that none of my neighbors can get off their A **es to place a flag out

This morning I will go to the nearby elementary school that my grandchildren attend for the Veterans Day assembly.  My youngest grandson will sing the Navy marching song "Anchors Aweigh".  A good day for an old sailor and a grandpa.

Just had a free lunch at Texas Roadhouse with a couple long time pals; Phil was Army during Vietnam and I was Air Force at the same time, and Mark was Marine Corp about 12 or 13 years later. Saw more younger Vets that I remember seeing before. Might have something to do with our silver hair.

My thanks to all of the other Vets.

My only grandson, 10 year old Caleb, called around supper time yesterday to thank me for serving. He was so serious and sober about it...took my breath away and made my eyes a little wet.

We just returned from an outdoor ceremony at our grandchildrens school.  It was a partial drive through event and we drove the 54 Chevy.  The kids did a great job.  Everybody likes an old car and a parade.

I am currently in Paris, France.

Yesterday we visited the D Day beaches at Normandy and today at an art museum I stood by a model for the building of the Statue of Liberty.  In a way it seems fitting for Veterans Day

Tonight we are going to a friends home for supper. He was a French foreign exchange student of mine the first year I taught school

The last two weeks we ate ourselves north through Italy
