Is this tire ruined?

Object goes quite a ways up the sidewall. It held air this week, sitting still. Patch or junk?

I've never found a shop willing to plug or patch a tire with a hole that close to the edge of the tread...beyond, actually.

It must have been in there for a spell. Still holding "some" air but I ain't soaped it. Car sat about five weeks and I only noticed it half flat after some errands. Time for a freshy but the tip of that iceberg also includes fan assembly replacement and crash repair to suspension on that corner, and a windshield, so it is no longer fit for highway use anyhow. Just put a window regulator in so it would be fit just to park in the street. Noble servant since 2009 and disabled veteran with multiple tours of duty to it's credit. Will put the spare on and replace tire.

More heads are better than my one. Thanks for the eyeballs.
