Rodder's Roundtable / Ash Can
January 20, 2015, 05:29:29 PM
I installed this canister in dad's roadster this past summer. This past weekend I took a picture and shared  it on FB.  Dad didn't want a burial, scattering was fine with him, so he's spread around, some on a mountain top, some with his parents, some released on the flats by 1149 at 247 mph and the rest of his ashes are still cruising in his roadster.

Hey guys 'n' gals

It's been a great month for my dad street rod wise, his roadster is back on the road with a fresh flathead and T5 and now this announcement.

Last week my dad received a letter in the mail from the Board of Directors of the Canadian Street Rodding Hall of Fame.

He has been selected as this years inductee.  All the official stuff takes place on 3 October at a Banquet in Waterdown Ontario.

He's over the moon, and under the weather.  This being the middle of a round of chemotherapy.

I've shared this with Sumner while the diagnosis was underway. Now that everything has been confirmed I'll fill everyone in.

The old fart, my dad, did all that hiking and racing with a lymphoma raising hell inside him.

A week ago it took four units of blood to bring his strength back enough to complete the necessary diagnostic procedures.  Once completed the results came in on 13 September, stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.  Chemotherapy got under way on the 14th. and will continue in 3 week cycles for the next few months.

The sign on dad's hospital room wall reads "Goals for 2008, 220 MPH"

He's in great spirits and his looking forward to being home again early this week.

Rodder's Roundtable / 1149 Speed Week Videos
August 30, 2007, 10:31:23 AM
I finally converted and uploaded our in car videos last night.

The most interesting is probably my spin from August 12

The rest show the progression as we improved the trucks handling
In the beginning it was too heavy and steered like an overloaded pickup, which it was. August 11

After my spin we found it still wanting to go left August 13

Then August 14 thing were looking good when dad made a nice straight and fast pass.

Ted backed that up with another straight run on the 15th

and then dad made our fastest run that afternoon.

Going through the videos also added more evidence to show how rushed the final run, when I blew it up, was. Sitting at the start my hand comes up and turns off the camera, I thought I was turning it on. No video.

Rodder's Roundtable / Pit Cruiser update
October 17, 2005, 03:16:23 PM
I suppose having another one in the family is an update.

I haven't changed my bike from the configuration it was in at Bonneville, just took some detail pictures and documented it a bit.
My brother has just finished his, guess he's done in time for next August. He used the same engine kit and installed it onto a chopper style bike he found at Walmart.  I'm still working on captions for the pictures of his bike, and for those of you who've visited us at Bonneville there's a few shots of Rob's girls in there too.

Rodder's Roundtable / B'ville/Vacation pics
September 09, 2005, 05:53:13 PM
http://1149.ca/Races/2005/pics_1.html

I've put a dozen pages of pictures up on line.  Sort of a sample of the gobs I took over that week.
Speaking of gobs, I got lazy one day and didn't clean the lens often enough, some are a bit fuzzy towrd the left.

What a great week,  I'm really looking forward to next summer and hopefully spending more pre-bonneville time down around Blanding.  Thanks Sumner for keeping that offer open for so many years.  it would have been a shame to have never discoverd that area.

Rodder's Roundtable / FrenchRodder in print
November 03, 2004, 01:10:26 PM
Merci Gilles!

Hey gang! I got home last night to find a large envelope from France in the mail. The mail was from Gilles (Frenchrodder) and inside was a copy of the French Magazine NITRO which included a 4 page spread of Gilles '32 Roadster.
The layout and pictures are excellent, I'was at band meetings all evening and didn't have time to reproduce the paces to post here though. Hopefully I'll find time tonight.

Rodder's Roundtable / N49 shirts are in!
July 27, 2004, 11:54:37 AM
Got 'em last night

So I frantically made over the N49 T-Shirt page this morning.
The "shopping cart" stuff is paypal and seems to work OK, I've tweaked the checkout calculation so that it won't over charge shipping on multiples, I hope. Prices on the web page are in Canadian Dollars, which is round about 75 cents US

I'll also have them at the Salt and take mail orders the old fashioned way.

Stickers are still in the works.

PM or email me a mailing address and I'll send you a copy of the latest "Canadian Rodder"
I'm sure you'll want one, cause when you open the cover there's a picture of your truck on the salt in there.
