Rodder's Roundtable / STAY WARM LADIES AND FELLAS
January 29, 2014, 05:01:11 PM
Yup, I'm cold and miserable.  I just checked and my shop furnace has gone thru 16 gallons from sunday afternoon until now, at about $4.50 a gallon thats over $70 in less than 2 days! and I don't let it get above 60degrees.
As bad as we have it I think about those folks in Atlanta, that is unbelievable!  School buses with kids on them stuck on that highway.  I guess I have no riight to complain, do I.

Rodder's Roundtable / O.T. Going to China!
January 16, 2014, 09:44:18 AM
It sounds like a great oppertunity, kinda sobering to consult efficiency to the Chinese.
My sister was over there and sent pictures of the hotels with signs in english hanging out in the front 'Free Sex' and when you checked in you were offered a partner, boy/girl/man/women you chose.  I guess they didn't have midgets.
I imagine you'll be in a professional westernized hotel and the local culture will be there if you look for it and you'll have a ball.
Have some fun and show them pictures of an American HotRod!

Rodder's Roundtable / Carter carb parts availble
December 10, 2013, 08:14:07 AM
I have purchased a huge Carter carb inventory, the parts are from early 30's thru early 50's.  All are in very good condition with the original factory finish including many shafts, tabs, linkages etc that are impossible to find.
Shoot me an email at:  ojh4@verizon.net  if there is something special that you need, maybe i can fix you up.
Thanks, oj

Mods, if this is too much an advertisement then delete it, I'll understand.

Good thinking, necessity being the mother of invention and all.

I'll take that hammer if you're done with it!

Anything TRJ does is finest quality, you can't go wrong getting one of them for Christmas.  Esp if you see an old buddy or a car you'd forgotten about.

Rodder's Roundtable / Some days you get lucky
November 25, 2013, 09:02:23 AM
I shredded a belt the same way once, tensioner pulley seized.  You were very lucky.
Nice deer.  I get up to fish the Manistee and always wanted to head to the UP just to see it.  That is a great place up there.  I remember one year an import got blown off the Makinac bridge and the coast guard went to look for it in gale conditions 10' seas and sideays snow, ice etcetc.  It takes special people to do that, i'll respect them forever.

Rodder's Roundtable / leadless solder
November 07, 2013, 05:20:25 PM
I haven't tried the new stuff, Johnsons' sells it and i might try some one day.
I been scarfing up all the old rolls of solder and flux that i can find at the yardsale/flea market events.  It is very inexpensive right now, in another 20 years it'll be tough to get any.

Rodder's Roundtable / Radius rod mount bolts

I'd be looking for why the bolt is bending...there shouldn't be any load on your front end that would bend a bolt, esp on a radius rod.  I suspect you replace grade 5 with grade 8 and something else will break or bend.

Rodder's Roundtable / MSD Ignition
April 06, 2013, 02:14:36 PM
Just to reinforce what Wayne has said, the sparkplug heat range deals with heat in the combustion chamber...if your motor runs a little too hot in the summer you can switch to a 'colder' plug and that will remove heat from the engine.
It has nothing to do with ignition.
