Case connector

Any of you folks know where to find a similar item?  thread size is: 1/4 inch pipe thread.

Case connnector. these pictured are Mopar brand. Used on RWD Mopar transmissions that had lock up torque converters.

I am using these to pass 12 volts thru to inside a transmission case for other operations inside the case.

The Mopar produced type connector was discontinued some years back.  A suitable replacement seems hard to find.

Needed replacement needs to be durable in heat and oil exposure as this design.

I can make you one, but it will be a bit longer to the outside end. I found no evidence of them even using some creative searches. If you need more than one, it can be done, but not as cheaply as a factory made part.

Need more than 1 ... A commercially available unit would be the ticket.  Have looked online multiple times and places for something similar. I checked companies like Mouser Electronics and others.

Could use a small quantity of them , just not enough to setup manufacturing of the connector.

Needs to be threaded.. A push in design will not work , likely would leak on some apps these are used on.

It is a simple design , something will turn up..

I think these could be made fairly easily in brass or stainless.

How many pieces would be needed?

What is the highest temperature it will be exposed to?

Critical Dimensions?   ( in addition to 1/4" MPT )

looks a lot like a brake line end with an insulated stud through it . would something like that work ?

Inside the transmission case; the stud diameter is about .158 - .160  , we use the push on wire end spuds on it as the photo shows.

The external  thread size on the pictured unit is 8 x 32 ...

Oil temps could reach 250*F in the drag  racing applications

Using a brass pipe plug and drilling it to do what Frank posted wouldn't be much of a deal. I've done bulkheads out of drilled bolts before. I used silicone for the sealant between the nylon insulator washers.

  i have dealt with walker products in the past.. that would not be very far out of what they already make..

Tony:  Would a #10-32 stud be acceptable, or MUST it be 8-32 ??

10-32 is fine.  We just need a connection to hook up to. Something that uses a nut is preferred because of vibration.  A flat spade slip on, may vibrate off.

We found a new 3 wire setup we are using on some of the transmissions we build with internal solenoids for trans brake and lockup of the custom converter.  It is the design of a coupler that has pins you slip together... then a threaded cap-retainer holds it together.  Like the design you see in aircraft.

Photo of 3 wire case connector we use now. We still need a single wire thread in connector.  1/4 inch pipe thread is preferred.  I hear we are working with a vendor to secure the one we need... time will tell.

With photo of internal solenoids on very high HP 2-speed turbo  400 race transmission.  Also shown is front billet aluminum  half of the lockup converter in mockup stage and testing of the lockup circuit.

External solenoids used for converter charge oil dump to help turbo spool quicker.  Also can be used to control converter oil charge on a loose track as a traction aid.
