Indycar driver Justin Wilson was airlifted to a hospital after being hit in the head by the nosecone of a crashed car today at Pocono Raceway. As of approximately 7:20 EDT the latest report is that Ryan Hunter Reay was told Wilson is unconscious and unresponsive.

There has been alot of injuries on open wheel racing lately. Hope him the best.

I read the driver died.

It was all about timing. The part flys in the air, Justin;s car rounds the turn at that moment and he is hit.

The drivers are tucked into those cars purty good in modern design

It was a life well lived, and his final good serves to remind us all of the importance of organ donation.

Wilson was also one of the prime spokesmen for safety within the series. I'm not sure what changes they'll make, but I'm confident there will be something. Safety never rests.
