Rodder's Roundtable / Re: 2021: What are you doing today
September 30, 2021, 11:46:02 AM
Today is "Orange Shirt Day" in Canada, a day of remembrance, acknowledgement, and commitment to reconciliation for wrongs done to Indigenous peoples of this country. What makes me post though is humorous, I look around and the impression that comes to mind is Hooley Huffman's pit at Bonneville. in fact I'm wearing a "Just Glad To Be Here" shirt as I type this.

Thanks Guys

It was a fun interview to do, Greg is a local writer and had written about my dad as far back as 2002.
He had a major bike accident in 2004 and the North of 49 crew followed his recovery pretty closely.  He's got an amazing garage at his place too, he still restores motorcycles and has a 53 Chev project car.

That's a good one Mike. :)
When you brought them back in, was that considered spring clean up? :)

Yes! Spring Cleaning was a big part of that afternoon.  I tried tossing them in the air for a Spring is in the air picture, but my phone puts too much priority on focusing and I couldn't get the shot.
I also took them to the front garden for this "Shifting into Spring" picture.

35 years is all I got out of the coil overs in my roadster. One started peeing oil in February so this past weekend I pulled them in anticipation of the arrival of a brown truck delivering the new set.

Once I had them out I took the springs off and ran outside to take some spring pictures in our garden.

Wow Tony. That's a rough tale, I'm sorry to hear of your loss and the heartache your family is going through.

I'll be headed down I15 to Temecula during the week of 19 March.
driving a truckload of band equipment so the kids can compete in some winter competitions in San Bernadino and San Diego.
This week I'm building frames so I can double stack Marimbas and Vibraphones, its the only way this whole load is going to fit in one truck.

Thanks guys, That photo sure makes the old car look good. I got really lucky with the sunlight and my move in time for the show.  World of Wheels in Calgary takes place in the convention center just on the other side of the Saddledome in the picture. My move in was at 12, and this stop was 11:30, I couldn't have planned for the lighting to turn out better.

Just draw the line somewhere that still allows this kind of stuff.  I know you will. :) Your willingness to drive the roadster in most any conditions is admirable. 8)

That's exactly what will save my sanity. Thanks George.
My first pass under the car really put me off. I think I'll wait a week or so for the roads to clear up and then take it to the car wash. In the mean time I can "shine up" the top half and touch up rock chips.
Maybe I'll make up a time line poster board of all the places it's been.

Fun Fact, I don't need magnets to prove it's a steel car anymore. It's rusting in all the standard Model A places. :-)

First day back at work for 2018 after a week of enjoying the heated slab in my garage.
That cold snap was much easier to handle while working on the roadster.
I (stupidly?) agreed to let my car appear in the local World of Wheels show coming up in February. I think Christmas spirits were the culprits, so during the break I started attacking the 30 years of wear on the car.  Now I'm trying to strategise where to draw the line on this clean up.

Happy New Year!
Here's hoping you all have a warm, happy and healthy 2018.

We're off to a good start here, where it's 30 degrees warmer today than it was 2 days ago.
