Rodder's Roundtable / Fire Damage Repair
May 15, 2012, 01:19:00 AM
A buddy of mine had his 66 Ford PU sitting next to his Ford Explorer which decided to start on fire for no reason. It damaged the side of the 66 and I offered to fix it for him since it was not insured.  I do all my own body work but fixing burnt sheetmetal is a new one for me. Any tips on prep will be appreciated.

Rodder's Roundtable / Build planning stages.
July 31, 2008, 11:13:58 AM
I have a cowl and rear section of a 31 Chevy 2 door sedan I am going to do something with this winter. I plan to build an open car to put around town in that is all GM.

I will build the frame from rectangular tubing and think a 4 bar will end up on the back. What I am struggling with is the front suspension. I want the car to be all GM but all the decent front suspension stuff is Ford based. Any ideas on what may work would be appreciated.

Rodder's Roundtable / 40 has gone to the dogs!
July 31, 2008, 11:01:48 AM
40 says hi to everyone! He is busy building his new house and if it could go wrong it has, this always is the case when he does his own houses.

Since the 15th of July he has been shacked up in his motorhome with his mutt dog and no internet access. It is one hell of site since the dog actually sleeps with him.

I expect he will be out of cyber action for another month to 6 weeks then he says he is quote "getting the hell out of town" lol.

Rodder's Roundtable / 39 Dodge questions
September 25, 2007, 06:38:28 PM
I am now the proud owner of a 39 Dodge coupe and am kicking around ideas for building it now.

In the garage I have a 350/350 combo sitting idle that I should go with because I own it and parts are so darn cheap but I am a Mopar man and am having trouble with throwing a bowtie drive train in the old girl.

I have access to an old Nebraska State Patrol car that has the police package on it they used back in the 80's for a couple hundred bucks, kicking aroung going that way with the build.

I am also kicking around the chassis, I am wondering if a Dakota chassis would work. Anyone experiment with this before?

Rodder's Roundtable / 63 Chevy PU
September 06, 2007, 05:34:31 PM
I have a real decent 62 Chevy PU but its a long box. I am considering converting to a short box by using a newer frame.

I know I will be doing some fab work if I decide to go this route and wondered if anyone has been down this path before. What year works best if any?

Am I nuts!

I just don't want a longbox and it appears no one else does either lol.

Rodder's Roundtable / DA Crusher gets em!
August 26, 2007, 12:02:01 PM
I picked up a 48 Buick turtle back for a buddy of mine yesterday in South Eastern IA. I got a chance to chat with the guy who owned the car a bit before leaving. He had a lot of 50s and 60s stuff sitting around so I had to check them out lol.

The guy knows what stuff is worth. He told me that so far this year he had crushed around 5000 50-60s cars becaus they were worth more in iron "#235 a ton" than the hassle of selling them 1 at a time.

The old 48 could be a nice ride with a lot of work but it was rough.  Soon to be another parts car.

Man have I learned my lesson on purchasing 1 year run vehicles that are not popular! I wanted a gun boat ragtop to cruise in so I picked up a 67 Ventura "Bonneville" convertible. Can't find hardly anything for that pig! About to send it to the junk yard I saved it from lol!

Anyone have an ignition switch laying around for one of these hogs!

Rodder's Roundtable / Pontiac
June 04, 2007, 06:50:56 PM
One of the downfalls to my weekend part time car hauling gig is occasionally one of them doesn't make it to my delivery point. I picked up a 1967 Pontiac Ventura convertible this weekend in Des Moines that ended up sitting in my driveway with me as the new owner.

It runs and drives but needs some body work. I am in need of the left qtr panel if anyone knows of an old 67 Ventura or Catalina sitting around with a decent qtr let me know.

A nice thing about this gig is I find lots of stuff lol. I will be taking a trip through a secluded closed salvage yard in South Dakota as soon as it stops raining to see what the old guy has stashed away in the trees. I know there are some 40's and older stuff in there so I probably won't get out of there with an empty trailer lol.

I am hauling cars back from the middle or eastern part of IA on a regular basis over the next month or so. I am running empty from Sioux City and can help get things moved that way. Email me at husker@iw.net if I can help!

40 and I will be delivering his 36 Ford Street rod to Sacramento at the end of the week. We are looking for a return load headed back to North East Nebraska. We will be happy to make a reasonable detour on the return trip but can't get to far off track on this run because of commitments on Monday.

Email me at husker@iw.net or call 1-605-780-0102 and ask for Kevin

Rodder's Roundtable / Larry the Cable Guy Movie.
March 26, 2006, 12:47:39 AM
If you are considering spending the money to see the Larry the cable guy movie you would get more enjoyment taking the price of the ticket and snacks and burn them in the front yard. It was that bad!

I would bet it will be in the discount rack at Walmart by next weekend!

Rodder's Roundtable / 53 Chevy PU
March 25, 2006, 08:55:20 AM
I am building a 53 3 window, I found it stuffed in a warehouse for $800.00 last summer. It has a Nova subframe and rear end that were installed when I purchased it. The cab is in great no rust shape, I do need a good left front fender and a tailgate if anyone has something decent.

Going with a used 350 target and turbo 350 engine that came with truck. Well I may switch to an OD trans if I can find one cheap.

Been considering a roll pan and flat tailgate, any guidance on what is out there that is worth a darn would be appreciated.
