Quote from: "junkyardjeff"I dont know anything about the originals but if they were late model GMs I know how to fix them.  Jeff
OK lay it on me.My '40 Olds has a later version triangle 3 hole mount. It mounts to the original bracket, but on the passenger side it's lose as hell.

Quote from: "teal32"Pretty sure they are originals, just recovered. They were in the car. There aren't any other '40 Chevys in the area to look at, to verify if they are original. They "look" like originals when I check on line.
Hey I'd like to know the answer to this question.I've got the same problem on the same side of my '40 Olds.Sags, loose a real pain in the butt!

I noticed on one of the other forums the question of what kind of oil to run in an old school motor.(one with a carburetor)This is for a regular oil change after break in.I'm running a sb ford with 6000 miles on it.I'd like to see 100,000 on it before I have to take it apart. What's everyones opinion on all the different oils?Should I stay with Valvoline for gas engines or switch to the synthetics?I've even heard of going to the Shell Rotella oil for diesel engines.Hell it's just like shopping for beer...so many to chose from,so little time.

Are they huggers?I don't have much space to work with. Not really sure what you mean by weed burners. oldmanolds

Last year a couple of kids came up to my wife and I at a local car show.We started talking about the kind of cars kids are into now and the money spent on them. The young man had a Honda 2000 (I think)with gull wing doors,tv's,a kick * stereo, turbo and nitrous. He said that he had around 40 grand in that car!Hell when I was his age I couldn't buy a cheap VW...anyway the fact is he loved our "OLD" car and was truly interested in it.I guess that driving a old car with lots of history is quite a conversation starter. Some of the old folks where my mother is a resident love for me to cruise up in it.Most people like the old cars. The others that like to run their mouths off about them are just jealous. My 2 cents

Rodder's Roundtable / Ford 500 to be renamed Taurus
February 07, 2007, 08:43:40 AM
I spent 26 years working on one of Fords most profitable products. They seem to care more about bottom line cost reductions then they do quality. The reason most people are crossing over to the foreign products is quality! Hell a Toyota,or Honda is not any cheaper than a Ford or Chevy, it's just a better car! Detroit wants to pay all their fat-cats big $, then blame all their troubles on union wages, and farm out all their production south of the border. Why is it that Japan is moving all their production facilities to the US? Just had to vent..sorry.   oldmanolds
