Rodder's Roundtable / Saved hotrod shows gone
November 19, 2009, 06:13:58 PM
Be careful what you save on your DVR.I'm upgrading to a HD DVR,and
Direct Tv is telling me they can't download what I have saved on my old DVR to the new one.All the car related shows I have saved will be gone,
and there are a bunch.Haven't even watched a lot of them yet.I'm not very happy with the whole situation.

Rodder's Roundtable / Charging system ?
May 26, 2009, 06:54:57 PM
As the vehicle speed increases, the amp gauge will peg all the way to the +
side of the gauge. When the engine returns to idle,it stays in the center of the gauge. It's a 62 Chrysler, and there is a brown wire in the loom at the alternator that a previous owner has cut the terminal off.So far I haven't
traced it back to see where it originates.Might be hard to trace, the wire from the ballast resistor, had three splices, all different color wires, and the splices just twisted together.Any ideas?

Rodder's Roundtable / Ballast resistor----hot?
May 01, 2009, 09:56:12 PM
Is it normal for a ballast resistor to be hot to the touch when the engine is running? It's hot enough to where you can't touch it without getting
burned.The vehicle is a 62 Chrysler.

Rodder's Roundtable / Top chop Update
March 01, 2008, 11:15:05 PM
It's coming together well, and I'm really pleased at the way it looks. The Relix Car Club was here Friday night and had quite a crowd.Once again John Kouw took the reins and had things rolling smoothly.A buddy from Kalamazoo drove his hotrod, which he drives all year round.

February 24, 2008, 09:34:49 PM
The day finally came, and we started the chop on my Dodge. The real brain on the job is my friend John Kouw from Cruisin Customs, and I helped! We'll do a little more during the week, and then my fellow club members from The Relix are comin' over Friday night. );b(

First time show last weekend.Considering late notice, overall a nice show.
If you want to see the bike pix,say so and I'll post them too.
The "Victorian" originally built by the Alexander Brothers was there awaiting a restoration by John Kouw of Cruisin Customs in West Olive Mi.One reason for the show was to honor the original members of the"Dutch Klutchers",a car club from Holland that dates back to the early 60's.   Fuzz

Tech Archive / Tech entry--Engine run stand
May 27, 2007, 09:31:30 PM
Not sure if it's a tech entry or not,but I thought I'd try.The engine isn't quite ready to run,but I think you get the idea.Because a Mopar starter doesn't bolt to the block,I had to use a bell housing. The motor mounts are adjustable front to back,in case a buddy wants to borrow it to run a SBC.Right now it's wired for a Mopar, but the harness is removable. The gas tank is from a riding lawn mower, and the battery tray is mounted lower front.

Tech Archive / Homemade wire wheel stand
March 07, 2007, 05:30:10 PM
Here's a wire wheel stand I built out of some scrap items. The red knob is the on-off,pull up for on,push-in for off.It controls a rocker switch on the motor that's out of a gas pump.

Tech Archive / Tech Entry Shrinker stand
March 03, 2007, 10:33:40 PM
Bought a new shrinker/stretcher and the handle method of operation sucks.I built a foot pedal operating stand. The outriggers on the front are for stability with height adjustable feet to accomodate irregularities in the floor. The casters on the side make it easy to move around.Whatcha' think?

I don't see any brand name, but it says "Made in USA".Any ideas?

Rodder's Roundtable / 700R4 vibration
January 18, 2007, 06:54:01 PM
Is it common in a 700R4 for the extension housing bushing to go bad.I have enough play in the driveshaft yoke into the tranny to take out a new seal almost immediately, and this is where I think my vibration is coming from.U-joints are good. It's my daily driver,91 GMC pick-up.

Thanks.

Rodder's Roundtable / 350 engine replacement
June 03, 2006, 04:53:33 PM
I've got a chance to get a 350 engine out of a 94 Buick Roadmaster to replace the tired one in my 91 GMC pick-up.Any problems I might encounter?I remember a post here quite a while ago about intake manifold bolts at a different angle.Any ideas?

                                                   Thanks
