Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Krown Rust Protection?

I don't get on here much lately. I do use Krown, I live right on the border with Canada and knew people who went over there and got their vehicles Krowned. It works. A guy that worked there for 13 years opened a service over here, the first one in Mi. There are now 2-3 local ones. I have an appointment this Weds. to get my annual, 3rd one, spray done.

Interesting day yesterday. My daughter was driving to Kentucky, for Breyerfest, and called me at 6.09 am. She was only about ten miles from home and her power steering light came on on her dash. I jumped into our Journey and drove to her. We swapped all her stuff into the Journey and she took off again. I drove her car back here. There was a traction control, an ABS, the power steering lights on, and the check engine light came on while I was driving. The traction control and ABS lights had been on and I did replace a wheel sensor last week. We had my nephew, who owns a car repair shop, scan it and it said the wheel sensor was bad. When I got the car home I looked under the hood for whatever and luckily noticed a broken wire behind the right headlight. I spliced the wire back together and all the light except the check engine light went out. Took it to my nephew and he reset the check engine light. He said it was on because of the other issues. I could not figure out how that wire got cut, he looked at it and said it was an animal chew!   Dang squirrels! Then later that day, on my FB feed, it popped up a memory from eight years ago on the same date. That was the time I drove to Cincinnati to rescue her when her car wouldn't started on her way home from Breyerfest! We got home at 3:30 am that time! 😄

Any chance the MC is bad. Not uncommon nowadays to be bad out of the box.

Rodder's Roundtable / Stroker motor
June 25, 2022, 08:57:16 AM
Here's a setup for a big stroker motor! 😄 Actually that's a rod and piston from a 1000' Great Lakes freighter, the Mesabi Miner. My friend took this picture, he's a wheelsman on the boat. They are currently docked at the Soo Locks repairing an engine. They cracked a cylinder liner and wiped out two rod bearings. One of the engineers told him the rod cap weighs 167# !!!!! The ship has two 16 cylinder engines, each hole produces 500 h.p.!!!!

I finished another commission today and framed it, just have to paint the frame black. Since I left the gallery and started more self promotion I have been getting more commissions! I went to a local dragstrip last week, our local Shootout competition where I had raised money, through a raffle for a painting, for the event and set up a small display of my work and it seems to have sparked some interest. Still have a couple more lined up!

Frank hopefully it's not severe, seems like most cases are pretty mild lately. Feel better soon.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Reflections used to be my nemesis, now I use them to my advantage. Yes reflections on white is a challenge, that car actually has nearly no white on it, only the brightest of reflections are actually white. Thanks again for the compliments, it is encouraging.

Hi all, I sure haven't been around here much lately. It's good to see everyone seems to be doing well. I haven't been doing much car stuff lately, no motivation I guess. I have still been painting, though I left the gallery where I had my work. I guess it was just the wrong place for my type of art. I have picked up several commissions lately, the white Dodge just went out the door today and another is on the easel and another is waiting. I hope to be back more frequently now!

It looks good, but you should have made the middle one a Tucker ;D

Funny you should say that Frank. I posted it on my FB page and a local friend asked me if that was a Tucker! Probably not too many Tuckers pushed over the hill! 😀

Is that lightning or something else in the pic?

Yes, supposed to be lightning. This is where I got lost, the original
Idea was to have the car in a storm, but much less well defined, with only highlights showing in a dark woods. I got carried away, as usual, and painted the car much brighter and detailed than I had intended. Oh well, it's done and can be filed with all the others out of sight. 😄

I sold the painting of the Camaro on the dragstrip I posted a few days ago...to the guy that owns the car, Tyler Crocket, of Crocket Marine engines. I had another painting started but lost  my way on it so I set it aside, I messed around with it for a while and ended up with this, far from my original intebtion, but I finished it....😀

I haven't posted lately, mostly because I have nothing worthwhile to add. 😀 I finished a car painting today, this is a local guy's car at our local track. An acrylic painting, 18" X 24" on hardboard. I'm pretty happy with it.
