Pope Downunder

Neil's '32 Ford pickup is based on a US cab chopped 2.5 inches and a narrowed & shortened bed, and assembled with local passenger car chassis and fenders. The all steel body is painted PPG Bluish Red by Shane Rowe of Southern Rod & Custom in Denniliquin. The truck sports a 283 Chevy bored .040 over, mild cam and a four-barrel.

This is my "latest toy". It's a '37 Ford Business Coupe I recently purchased. A very good body imported about 20 years ago, by a friend. At that time it was the only one in Aus, but now there are a few, still very rare downunder, as all we got were Club Coupes. I remember he had it pretty well finished but unfortunately had to sell it. The car changed hands several times, and for various reasons just got stored for 15 years, during which time most of the mechanicals dissappeared, some stolen, some pulled off and sold etc.

In the end I haven't even got that chassis that is under it in the photos, just a stocker. I have most of the key parts, and a few nice extras. At this stage the plan is to build it as a good solid, well engineered rod, that I can drive anywhere, but not fancy. It will have Air, P/S etc., but still be "traditional" in styling. I have a Ford 5.0EFI, T5 Five Speed and a "Tank" Fairlane 9" rear. I haven't decided on a front end at this stage, but it will be some form of factory IFS.
