When I met my wife (#2), I had an unfinished '38 Chevy business coupe. Within a year, I had finished it as my only car (wife #1 got the other one) and drove the snot out of it, even attending the '92 Rocky Mt. Nats. But her daughter soon outgrew the small space I had allotted behind the seats and it was time to trade up. The next car was a '70 DeVille convert, while the search for a suitable replacement continued. It was at the '99 Grayslake swap, where I was trading with my club (club space), and doing a right smart business that day, thank you, that I finally took time out to look for a car at 11:00. To my great surprise, there was a '46 Ford sedan just sittin' there, with a $2300 price tag. And it looked good. (the pic I sent you was shot the day I got the car home.) I drug a buddy over to take a look, so I wouldn't be jumping into a snake pit, and the two of us agreed that the car was worth the money, so I offered him $2000. Offer accepted, I arranged to pick it up the next weekend.

We drove the car as a stocker for a while, until the flattie developed a wrist pin knock. Then I took it out to my shop, which I share with my buddy Gerry, and started building it as you have witnessed on its own site: http://www.websbycos.com/transformation.html

This story will be continued on the site about every three-four days, as it takes that long to run thru 24 exposures while building continues.

Other cars I have at the moment are; '51 Ford Club Coupe, 'F' body sub, 10 bolt rear, and plans for a 500 Cadillac, which I have but have not fitted yet. This one is low.

'80 Coupe DeVille. This car I was never intending to drive, as it was given to me by a friend who could not sell it due to having a bad trans, and would not have, except that I sold my convert rather quickly after advertising for over six months with little action. Sold on a Tuesday, I had to take the '80 out to the shop and swap transmissions, I had one from a '79, stripped earlier(years earlier). Went smooth until I fired it up and the direct clutch was frozen. After trying to drive it free, I finally just put it in Park and revved the whee out of it, and that worked. My wife drives this for now, and, sadly, it is not near the quality car that the '70 was. And it can't be solved by merely swapping the 500 in either, but I thought of it.

'96 Triumph Trophy. When Triumph came back into the states, I had to have one. A '72 Bonneville was my first motorcycle.

'87 GMC Hi-cube: work truck. I am a bread driver in another life. This thing has near 300,000 miles and as any vehicle I own, a lot of modifications.

Thats it for me. The shop has its own inventory as follows quickly:

'52 Plymouth coupe; slated to go on '83 Seville chassis.

'48 Chevy 1 1/2 ton; slated to be the swap truck.

'53 Chevy 3/4 ton; subbed and 'C'ed with a small block, it will be done next.

'55 Chevy 1/2 ton first series; no plans yet, just there.

'51 Chevy coupe; Buick V6, Olds cutlass sub and rear, Pontiac steering wheel stereo, its a driver that is getting the finishing touches.

'28 Model 'A'; pic on my club's site, it went to Louisville and gets driven a lot recently. Small block (built fairly stout), 5 speed, 10 bolt, TCI frame, all fairly normal stuff, 'cept its a coupe turned into a roadster. Mother nature started it, we finished the job.

And thats it, unless something else comes up. club site: http://webgo.net/nilsra

Thanks for considering me for your site. Cosmo

The car is done, and now has a little over 1000 miles on it. My wife drives it every day, giving me feedback on what the needs are and what could be done. Washers were added shortly after we started driving it to cope with the salt a spray on the Illinois roads in winter. Carpeting is next to purchase, while the windshields and their rubbers have just been replaced. On the whole I am very pleased as the car works well as a car, as well as a street rod. But it is a little too easy to spin on wet/icy pavement
